Performed by jazz trumpeter Terrence Blanchard
and choreography by Rennie Harris
WHEN: Friday, October 18, 2019 at 8 PM
WHERE: Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts/Knight Concert Hall, 1300 Biscayne Blvd.
PROGRAM: Grammy Award-winning composer/trumpeter Terence Blanchard, internationally-renowned hip-hop choreographer Rennie Harris and sculptor/projection-mapping artist Andrew Scott team up for a music-driven, multi-disciplinary new work that explores the ability of music and art to bring about racial healing. “Caravan: A Revolution on the Road" explores black lives in the 21stcentury through Blanchard’s fusion of jazz, R&B, blues, funk and soul, interwoven with Harris’ African-American dance styles and Scott’s conceptually-based visual projections and installations. This is an original work commissioned by the Arsht Center and led by Blanchard, the former Artistic Director of the Mancini Institute at the University of Miami Frost School of Music best known for composing the scores for most of Spike Lee’s films.
