PROGRAM: Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a 1929 jazz/early swing musical revue which was named after the Fats Waller song of the same name.  It is a tribute to the black musicians of the 1920s and 1930s who were a part of the Harlem Renaissance, an era of creativity, cultural awareness, and ethnic pride.  It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs like the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were playgrounds of high society and Lenox Ave dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing.  The performers present an evening of rowdy, humorous songs that encapsulate the various moods of the era.

ABOUT THE DRAMA COMPANY: Florida’s oldest surviving Black Theater group was founded in 1971 on the campus of the University of Miami by the late T.G. Cooper with the mission of preserving and promoting African American culture through the  theater and other genres of performing arts.  The company is listed as a major cultural arts institution by the Miami-Dade County Cultural Affairs Council and exposes Miami-Dade inner city youth to the fundamentals of live stage performances as well as providing opportunities for them to learn about the business of arts and entertainment.COST:  $31 per person for general admission.  Tickets may be purchased online at  or through the box office at 305-284-8872.  Note that student and senior tickets may only be purchased through the box office.
